Hertswood students, Borehamwood, pass maths GCSE early
Eighty-eight students at an academy have already passed their maths GCSE six months early.
The Year 11 students at Hertswood Academy, in Thrift Farm Lane, Borehamwood, all managed to get a pass grade after taking the test last year with a grade C or higher.
Five students were awarded grade As and three achieved an A*.
Student Xiaoyi Sun passed the exam with a final grade of 94 per cent – which ranks as one of the highest in the country.
Head of maths Iain Sands said: “This is fantastic achievement and a testament to her hard work in preparing for the exam.
“These students are all excellent role models for Year 11s as they prepare for their main examinations in the summer.”
All of the successful students are now working on further maths qualifications or improving the grades they have already achieved.
Peter Gillett, the new Headteacher at Hertswood Academy, paid tribute to the hard work of all involved.
He added: “This was a real team effort. Our students worked very hard for this, ably led by our talented teachers and well supported by their parents.
“I’ve no doubt this is the start of something very special.”
