Hertfordshire County Council awarded £395,000 from Department of Health's Warm Homes Healthy People Fund

Cash to help older people on low incomes stay warm during the winter has been awarded to Hertfordshire County Council.
The council has been given £395,000 from the Department of Health’s Warm Homes Healthy People Fund to help those struggling to heat their homes during the cold snap.
Homeless people will also be provided with warm clothes and food, and some housing shelters will have extended opening hours.
Some of the cash is available to voluntary organisations, social enterprises and community groups working with people who are at risk.
It can also be used to support local authority initiatives aimed at vulnerable groups.
Anyone who runs a project, which does not already have funding and can deliver support to vulnerable people living in cold housing, can apply for the grants.
For more information on how to apply, call Andy Nazer 0n 01438 84111.
