It might be freezing outside – but this little calf is oblivious to the cold as he enjoys his first few days of life.

Norton, who came into the world at Aldenham Country Park, in Dagger Lane, last week, is pictured gulping down a bottle of milk.

The newborn is being fed by his godfather – park ranger Eamon – who helped his mum, Sidehorn, give birth last Sunday.

Traditionally, cattle born in 2013 should be given names starting with the letter N, and the grey and white calf was christened Norton after a Facebook campaign.

According to park rangers, the animal has a “very sweet face and nature”.
