A man who was arrested in a betting shop on suspicion of robbery yesterday has been released without charge.

The man, who was in Paddy Power, in Shenley Road, was recognised by a member of the public following an appeal after an attempted robbery.

Last Friday, a man walked into Ladbrokes, in Shenley Road, and threatened a member of staff with what appeared to be a weapon in a plastic bag, and demanded money.

But the man left the building empty handed shortly afterwards, making off in an unknown direction.

The man who was arrested yesterday was taken to Watford Police Station and interviewed, but released with no further action taken against him.

Earlier this week, officers released a photo of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident and are still appealing for information.
