Shop Watch scheme to help deter shoplifters from Shenley Road, Borehamwood

Shopkeepers in the high street are encouraged to sign up to the scheme
Shopkeepers across Borehamwood are encouraged to join a new scheme to deter shoplifters.
Shop Watch, launched by Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership, uses a radio link so shop staff and police can share information on suspicious behaviour.
Shops from cross the high street – including Tesco and New Look – attended a breakfast meeting about the scheme yesterday.
Shopkeepers had the chance to speak to Hertfordshire’s strategic crime prevention officer Ian Dowse and Hertsmere Chief Inspector Dean Patient.
Councillor Charles Goldstein, portfolio holder for community safety and chairman of Hertsmere CSP, said: "There are many things shop-owners and staff can do to stop their businesses from becoming targets for shoplifters, including simple measures like looking at their shop layout and installing CCTV.
“We would also encourage all shopkeepers in the town to sign up to Shop Watch, and by working together, we can ensure our town centre is safe from crime and a pleasant environment for shoppers.”
