Network Rail to hold meeting at Elstree and Borehamwood Station about new lifts

Train users are invited to a meeting to find out more about proposals for step-free access at Elstree and Borehamwood Station.

Representatives from Network Rail will be holding the event on platform one of the Shenley Road station next week.

The train firm agreed to build the £3,500,000 lifts after Benjamin Marks, 20, was initially banned from boarding a train at the station because his wheelchair posed “health and safety problems”.

Works were supposed to begin in September 2012 – but problems with where to place the crane has delayed the start date until March 2013.

Benjamin’s mother, Erica Marks, of Beech Driver, Borehamwood, previously told the Borehamwood Times she was “disappointed” with the delay.

Anyone is invited to the meeting on Thursday, January 17 from 4pm to 7pm.
