Staff and pupils at an Elstree school are celebrating after being described as “excellent” in an inspection.

Aldenham Lower and Upper School in Aldenham Road gained the top mark in every category in the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report in December.

The report commends the pupils, who are three to eighteen, for their “excellent" achievement and "outstanding" levels of personal development.

Headmaster James Fowler said: “It is very reassuring the inspection found the committed and supportive teaching is of high quality here.

“We encourage pupils to develop their talents and abilities to the full.”

Inspectors recognised the great strengths of the boarding school – particularly highlighting the atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding between teachers and students.

Head of the prep school, Vicky Gocher, added: “I am delighted with the findings of the report. We are happy to now children are receiving a good start to developing their talents and abilities over a wider spectrum.”
