Hertsmere Borough Council launches consultation over development plans on Elstree Way Corridor
12:53pm Thursday 3rd January 2013 in News By Anna Slater
A consultation over potential development plans at a “key gateway” to Hertsmere has been launched.
The Elstree Way Corridor, which runs from the Tesco roundabout, in Shenley Road, to the double roundabout in Elstree Way, includes offices and housing.
Hertsmere Borough Council has put together an action plan for the redevelopment of the site in its 'core strategy', which sets out development, employment and transport plans until 2027.
The area around Elstree Way has been identified as being able to provide at least 800 homes to meet the needs of the borough.
Councillor Harvey Cohen, portfolio holder for planning and localism, said: “The redevelopment is also an opportunity to improve the physical appearance of the area.
“It will be a key guide for us for the coming years so it is important to hear what local people have to say about it.”
In the consultation, people will be able to have their say on pedestrian, cycle and vehicle links with the town centre.
The full plan will be available for viewing at the council offices, in Elstree Way, Borehamwood, or via their website from Monday.
Council officers will also be on hand to answer questions about the plans on Thursday January 24 from 1pm to 6pm and Wednesday, January 30 from 5pm to 8pm.
The consultation runs from January 7 to February 18 and responses can be sent by e-mail to core.strategy@hertsmere.gov.uk or by post to the council offices.
