Motor maniacs from across the borough have been revving their engines to take part in a new classic car club.

Diane Lee, of Farrant Way, Borehamwood, started the club earlier this year after falling in love with her new 1970s Vanden Plas Princess.

Since the group had their first meeting last year, around twenty people have been coming from all over London and Hertfordshire to meet other like-minded people.

The 53-year-old said: “Since I started the club, I have made so many new friends and met so many new people. We all come from various areas which is nice.

“We do not only talk about cars – we speak about family and our jobs and get to know each other, the fact that we all share the same hobby is an added bonus.”

Married Mrs Lee first sparked an interest in classic cars when her husband, 67-year-old Gordon, bought a 1966 Singer Gazelle seven years ago.

The couple are already part of the Watford District Classic Vehichle Club and the international Singer Owners’ Club, but were keen to start the sociable and relaxed group.

Anyone is invited to turn up to the club’s next meeting on Sunday, November 13 at the RAF Museum, in Grahame Park Way, Hendon, for lunch from 12pm.
