Thousands of pounds worth of fish were killed when a car span out of control and smashed into the side of a maisonette in November.

Tropical fish breeder Diane Mantle was devastated when the black car hurtled through her garden fence, killing the animals.

The 32-year-old said her house felt like it could topple over at any minute.

Tributes were paid to the fallen this month during services to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Hundreds of people lined Shenley Road, Borehamwood, to pause in silent tribute to remember heroes who died fighting for the country.

Piper George McGregor was determined to make sure he did his bit to honour the war dead, and began playing a tribute on his pipe at the end of the ceremony.

A packet of Wotsits cost litterbug Keeley Patrick, of Croxdale Road, Borehamwood, over £500 when she dropped them in Shenley Road.

She was fined and racked up further costs when she failed to pay it and was ordered to appear in court but did not attend.

Campaigners also warned Hertfordshire County Council that “something terrible could happen” if it did not switch on the street lights for New Year's Eve.

Householders felt the midnight to 6am blackout should be relaxed over the festive period to avoid party-goers feeling unsafe as they walked home in the dark.

But the county council refused to listen to their plight, saying turning the lights back on would be “prohibitively expensive”.

Hundreds also raised cash and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer charities as part of Movember.

Dr Harjeev Rai, of Fairbrook Medical Centre, Fairway Avenue, inspired his patients to take on the challenge.

And staff members at The Venue Leisure Centre, in Shenley Road, also grew their moustaches to raise money for the cause.
