Football fans queued up outside Tesco for a glimpse of the iconic FA cup this morning.

Children and adults were gripped with football fever as the famous trophy spent three hours in Tesco, Shenley Road, Borehamwood.

Six-year-old Skye Abrahams, who described herself as “football mad”, said she had woken up early this morning in anticipation of getting her photo snapped with the cup.

The Arsenal supporter, who wore her football kit for the occasion, said: “It is such a famous cup so I was really excited to come and see it today.

“I think it looks even cooler in person.”

Her older sister, nine-year-old Amber, was also thrilled after seeing the trophy in the flesh. She said: “I am going to tell everyone about how I saw the cup – but mostly I am excited to show my uncle and cousins.

“I think they are going to be so jealous of me because we all love football. It has been such a good morning and I have had so much fun.”

The cup took a trip to the supermarket after Boreham Wood FC earned a place in the First Round proper against League One side Brentford.

The teams will play each other this Saturday, November 3, at the football grounds in Meadow Park, Borehamwood.

For Ben Molyneux, seeing the cup was all the more special because his favourite football team, Chelsea, are the current holders after winning the title last May.

The 18-year-old Howard Drive resident said: “I have seen it before but I am a massive football fan, so seeing it today was really incredible.”

Excited supporters were also given the chance to meet Boreham Wood’s Assistant Manager, Luke Garrard, and Midfielder Chez Isaacs.

Chez Isaac said: “Getting through to the First Round Proper was obviously fantastic so having the FA cup here today is a true honour.

“It is nice that everyone came down to see the cup and support us too. It is all very exciting.”

Moose, do you always have to be centre of attention? Saturday is Borehamwood's day, not yours!

I remember being at holmshill school 1959-1963 and being only one of two chelsea supporters in those days. Everyone else was spurs / arsenal / watford.

Good luck to the wood, I am too far away to see meadow park game - only two wins from an epl club (Chelsea would be a miracle).
