Mayor Pat Strack's hunt for Hertsmere's unsung heroes

The hunt for Hertsmere’s unsung heroes has begun.

Mayor of Hertsmere, Pat Strack, is seeking nominations for the annual civic awards to recognise people who make a positive impact on the borough.

She said: “In this Olympic and Jubilee year, the spotlight has been on all the remarkable people who everyday do something for their community.

“We are so lucky in this borough to have some amazing volunteers – and I meet many of them during my visits to local events and activities.

“This is your chance to give someone special the recognition they deserve for helping make Hertsmere the wonderful place it is to live and work in.

“By telling their stories, I hope it will inspire future generations to give a helping hand to a local club or community group.”

Nominees may be a long standing volunteer of a club, community group or a charity and live or work in the borough.

A panel of judges, including Mayor Strack, will pick the winning entries in January, with results being announced at the Mayor’s Civic Awards next March.

To nominate someone, download an entry form by visiting Hertsmere Borough Council’s website.

If you want to make the money go a long way, why not get the community to do as much work as possible for free if indeed the funds are used to build new or renovate existing plots
