Hertsmere Borough Council awarded prize

Hertsmere Borough Council is celebrating after being honoured with a prize.

The council picked up the East of England Charter award for its work with councillors.

During the assessment process, four judges spent a day grilling councillors on their development and training.

They were also asked how they were kept informed about new legislation, as well as how they handled case work.

Council leader, Morris Bright, said: “I am delighted that the council has been awarded the charter.

“It is recognition of all the hard work which goes in to ensuring councillors receive the highest level of support and training, so that in turn, our residents can receive the best advice and support.”
