Children turned into gardeners when they helped spruce the station up this weekend.

Members of the Elstree and Borehamwood Youth Council gave up their Sunday to help plant daffodil bulbs at Elstree and Borehamwood Station, in Shenley Road.

The children, who were joined by the Borehamwood Rotary Club, planted the flowers as part of a project lead by film group First Impressions to clean up the station.

Alex Walker, chair of the youth council, said: “We really enjoyed planting the flowers in the area.

“I would like to thank the Rotary Club for supplying the bulbs for us to plant. We really look forward to continuing to help maintain the station.”

The bulbs were donated by the Borehamwood Rotary Club as part of their annual bulb-planting programme.

Revered Richard Leslie, president of the Borehamwood Rotary Club, applauded the youth council for helping out.

He said: “It is good to see the members getting stuck into planting bulbs at the station, producing life and colour that will last and be appreciated for years.”

Rotary Secretary, Chris Watts, added: “It is so nice to see young people doing all the hard work.”
