Families had the chance to get a behind-the-scenes look at the jobs of Borehamwood's police and firefighters last weekend.

Both the fire and police stations in Elstree Way opened their doors to the public on Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.

As well as activities such as face-painting, a paintball target range and a raffle with prizes including a Star Wars light sabre, police officers were on hand to offer crime prevention advice.

Various demonstrations took place at the fire station with firefighters simulating a car accident and showing the dangers of a chip pan fire.

There were also representatives from Penniwells riding group, Make a Wish Foundation and Friends of South Ridge RSPCA among others.
