Folk is the new rock’n’roll apparently, with a resurgence of interest in the genre highlighted by this week’s Radio 2 Folk Awards in Salford. Not to be outdone, Abbots Langley is proudly hosting Pilgrim’s Way for its next Winter Acoustic Concert.
A refreshingly different, reassuringly traditional trio from Manchester, Pilgrim’s Way are currently taking the folk world by storm. Accolades include the FATEA 2011 tradition award and a nomination for a Spiral Earth award for best debut album.
The folk theme carries on into the interval, with craft stalls to browse and tea, coffee and cakes served, courtesy of the Dick’s Folly crew from the South West Herts Narrowboat Project.
Some of the proceeds from the concert will go to this worthwhile local charity that supports organisations including Mencap and special needs school groups.
Pilgrim’s Way will be playing at Abbots Langley Community Centre, Gallows Hill Lane, Abbots Langley on Sunday, February 12 at 3pm (doors open at 2.30pm). Details: 01923 264536, www.oldtimetim.com/alwac.htm
