The Fujita Sisters are a force to be rekoned with, bonded not just by blood but by the chamber music they have been playing together since childhood.

The daughters of a prominent Japanese diplomat, Megumi, Honoka and Arisa came to the UK at a formative age to study at the Guildhall School of Music and the Royal College of Music.

Studying under some of the country’s finest instrumentalists, the sisters have won numerous plaudits as individuals and when they come together as a trio.

Following their debut in London in 1999, the pianist, cellist and violinist have performed around the world from Barcelona to Bucharest (where their Beethoven concert was broadcast live on Romanian national television), as well as more than 100 venues in the UK, gathering fans and plaudits along the way.

A number of CD releases have captured the sisters at work but to really appreciate their rapport and at times near telepathic awareness of each other’s playing they really must be seen live.

On February 23, the trio come to The Radlett Centre to play an eclectic set, which features music by Mozart: Piano Trio No. 5 in C K.548, Shostakovich: Piano Trio No. 2 Op. 67 in E minor, Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu: Distance de Fée (1951) for violin and piano, and Schubert: Piano Trio No. 2 in E flat major D.929.

The Fujita Trio is at The Radlett Centre on Thursday, February 23 from 8pm. Free admission for under-25s. Details: 01923 859291, www.radlettcentre.co.uk
