Photographers from St Albans collective Original Image will again be showing their award-winning photography at the Childwickbury Arts Fair.

Formed three years ago by St Albans-based photographers Brian Cooke, Paul Johnson and Peter Stevens, the group frequently exhibits at art fairs and local, national and international exhibitions. Though primarily landscape photographers, they are versatile and experimental, and some of Paul’s work, particularly, has a quirky aspect to it. The trio’s collective work covers fields as diverse as people, flowers, architecture, landscapes, and seascapes. They will be showing many new prints taken locally and from locations across the UK. Running alongside their exhibit will be a light-hearted demonstration of family portraiture in conjunction with a face painter, which should result in some interesting and colourful images.

Also exhibiting is St Albans artist Julie D Cooper. Julie, who is exhibiting for the first time at Childwickbury, imagines in shape, colour, light and space, and interprets using the language of abstract painting. Her work expresses a dialogue between artist and canvas in which colour is critical and shapes/forms are instinctive. With the use of collage, photographs and research material she articulates form as inspiration for new ideas and imagery exploring shapes and colour relationships. Gouache has proved to be the ideal medium for her works on paper, which she develops further into an evolving series in oil on canvas.

Childwickbury Arts Fair is at Childwickbury House, St Albans from July 6 and 8. Details: 07976 439850, www.childwickbury-arts-fair.com
