Exciting times

By Janaki Mahadevan »

The Borehamwood reporters were faced with yet another exciting week of news, inundated with calls about subjects as wide as ram-raided estate agents to disgraced Tory MEPs.

Despite being in Hendon, Suruchi and I both managed to get to meetings this week to see what the hot topics of the moment are.

Suruchi’s visit to Shenley Parish Council provided an interesting evening with a surprise number of residents turning up to voice their concerns, read this week’s paper for more information about what was discussed.

On Wednesday evening, I went along to Hertsmere Borough Council’s executive meeting, which was webcast – so keep a look out and you might catch me scribbling away in the background.

It was interesting to see councillors from different parties working together and praising each others’ work as well as challenging each other on differences of opinion.

As well as the importance of opposition members holding each other to account, it was good to see cross party co-operation on matters likely to have a significant impact on residents.
