This year’s big council tax ‘reveal’ at last week’s Full Council meeting was as I had feared, yet another predictable “it’s nothing to do with us guv”, “it’s all the governments fault” but “aren’t we doing a wonderful job” public proclamation.

Good news from the government for users of Elstree & Borehamwood station. Rail Minister, Tom Harris, has announced funding for upgrades to railway stations across England and Wales, E&B is one of those stations on the list.

Up until he died, I would regularly visit my wife's Grandfather in Frankfurt. With his pigeon English and my nonexistent German (I don’t count being able to say "zwei beer bitte" as speaking German), communicating together had its challenges but over the years we found a way of understanding each other.

Most Full Council meetings are far from what you would call rip roaring, however at last night's meeting along with the now predictable Tory tactic of applying lashings of "self-congratulatory, aren't we doing a wonderful job" platitudes, we had a few other interesting moments. At one point, a pint or three of Blue blood was spilled in the Council Chamber, but more about that later.
