Election turn-out

The percentage of the electorate in Hertsmere who used their vote in Thursday's elections was slightly higher than for the last round of borough council elections. In 2000 there was an average 30.6 per cent turn-out across the political wards, but last week the figure rose to 32.6 per cent. In Borehamwood's Cowley Hill ward there was a 29.8 per cent turn-out, which compares favourably with the 19.4 per cent who voted two years ago. The turn-outs in Hillside, Brookmeadow and Shenley were all greater than they were in 2000. Kenilworth ward's turn-out was two per cent higher than the last time seats were contested there, in 1999, and Elstree was also up on 1999.
