FURRY friends joined a synagogue's ceremony as part of a Deaf Awareness service.
Radlett Reform Synagogue invited two well-behaved canines to its Shabbat service on Saturday morning.
Senior Rabbi Paul Freedman welcome the hearing dogs and spoke about the ancient role of the translator, as the weekly Torah scroll was chanted phrase by phrase in Hebrew by Rabbi Celia Surget.
The whole service was signed in British Sign Language by Esther Rose Bevan and the Hebrew in American Sign Language by EJ Cohen.
Rabbi Freedman said: "Whilst our quadrilingual service this morning was particularly accessible, it also served as a useful reminder of how difficult life can be for those in the Deaf community".
