A 93-year-old woman was awarded for her 20 years of dedication with a learning disability charity.
Leni Kariel of Edgware, was presented with the outstanding contribution award for her work in the Norwood charity store in Station Road.
Norwood is the UK’s largest Jewish charity, which supports vulnerable children and their families, as well as children with special educational needs and people with learning disabilities.
Ms Kariel said: “I certainly didn’t expect anything like this. Volunteering is of much benefit to me as it is to others.”
Held at Hendon’s RAF museum on Tuesday September 13, the Norwood’s Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards recognises the huge contribution that volunteers make every day.
Lady Hazel Cosgrove CBE presented the award and said: “Leni Kariel has volunteered in the Norwood shop for over 20 years, providing a welcoming environment and fantastic customer service. She’s a remarkable lady.”
Norwood has a volunteer force of 1,500 people, who make a vital contribution to the professional support of our children, adults and families.
